This blog is dedicated to photographers, their art, and growing their business. During the past nine years, photography has not only provided me with quite the lively work atmosphere; it also has provided me with a much enjoyable hobby, and many experiences to share. This is where I’d like to share them with you in hopes of making it a bit easier for you to grow your business. Whether you are seasoned pro, freelancer, or just thinking of a career in the industry, we’ll have something everyone can learn from. So please, ask as many questions you like

I have affiliated myself with the photographic community, working with photographers, commercial photo studios, and rental houses, and must say that this community has made a great impact on my life personally. The respect I have learned for the art and artist is tremendous, and the life changing stories photographers have shared with me has been amazing.

Apple Talk
It all started in New York City when I went to meet a food photographer (my first photo client) to have him sign a lease agreement for a new camera. Upon entering his studio, he was embroiled in a conversation with an art director regarding the placement of an apple in a fruit basket. The intensity of conversation was dramatic. The rest of the studio was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Back then I thought, just put the apple in the basket, and take the picture, “What’s the big deal?” Wow! I am so grateful for not vocalizing that thought! How times change, now I am shocked for even thinking that way. Since that day, so many years ago, several of my photographers have been kind enough to introduce me to fundamental concepts of composition and lighting. My appreciation of that first “Apple Talk” has since grown enormously.

We live in a world of photographs. We are surrounded by them in the markets we shop, catalogs we buy from, restaurants we eat at, the news we read, the websites we surf, billboards we see on the road, and the magazines we enjoy. They are everywhere. They make us cry, they make us laugh, they make us angry, and they even make us stand back and say, “ Wow!” All in all, they are here to tell a story a thousand words can’t describe, and we have all the photographers of the world to thank for a job well done.

After seeing my girlfriend’s daughter with such enjoyment of her first camera, it became apparent to me that I needed to experience the same. After purchasing one myself, the enjoyment has been truly endless. Now I am still a novice, so there is some….well a lot of frustration, but some of the stop action pictures at a first graders soccer game can be quite hysterical. I never knew six and seven year olds could possess so much determination to kick the ball, miss it, and land their foot in the opposing player’s shin. In real time, that moment would be missed, gone forever, but a photo can be endlessly enjoyed.

This blog is for all the photographers out there, or those who dream of becoming a one. You have impacted my life greatly, and I hope to do the same for you. Please join, and ask any questions that pops into your mind.
